The Road There
From Geneva, the route runs entirely within Switzerland: the A1 motorway to Lausanne, then the A9 along the Rhône valley through Vevey and Sion to Visp, before the final climb up the Mattertal valley to Täsch.
From Milan Malpensa, the route runs north through Domodossola to the Simplon Pass (2,005 m), which stays open year-round but can carry significant snow in winter. In poor conditions, vehicles can instead cross under the pass by rail on the BLS Autoverlad car train between Iselle (Italy) and Brig (Switzerland), a drive-on, drive-off transit of around 15-20 minutes. From Brig, the route joins the same Mattertal valley road to Täsch.
From Zurich, the route also runs entirely within Switzerland, via the A1 and A9 motorways past Bern to Visp, then up the Mattertal valley to Täsch.
Arriving in Zermatt
Zermatt itself is closed to private vehicles. Vezzora's chauffeur takes you to Täsch, 5.6 km before the village, where you park and continue by the Zermatt Shuttle train (every 20 minutes, a 12-minute ride) or a local electric taxi.
Driving beyond Täsch without authorisation is against Swiss local regulations and can result in a fine, so no chauffeur service, including Vezzora's, can take you further by road.
Weekend Travel
Zermatt is not in the Tarentaise, so the N90/Albertville-Moûtiers pattern doesn't apply. The main variable here is winter weather on the approach road, whichever airport you're travelling from: allow extra time when conditions are poor, and via Milan, the Simplon car train may be the only option.

Your Vezzora chauffeur drives you to Täsch, the last village before Zermatt, where private cars must stop. From there you continue into Zermatt on the frequent shuttle train (12 minutes) or a local taxi.
